ShoalBear's Growlings

Are we as a people so pathetic that we can't even flush a toilet anymore? I know I am not alone in hating these automatic flushing toilets! As a matter of fact, I have yet to meet anyone who thinks they are a good thing. Yeah yeah...it's good if you don't want to enter after some yokel who is either to lazy or stupid or has some fear of flushing a public toilet, and see what was left behind. But come on!

And if these toilets are a necessity in our society, can't we at least make them so that they work properly? I have been told that these automatic flush toilets are also water-conserving. Water-conserving my fat ass. How can it be conserving water when the damned thing flushes at least three times each time I use it?

Maybe it is just me, but whatever it uses to sense when to flush never works properly. I barely place my derrière on the seat and the damned thing is off and running. Then at least once while I am taking care of business, it goes again. Then when I am done and I stand back up, it DOES NOTHING!!

So, I end up having to flush manually anyways!!

Is there anyone out there who DOES like these things??  Why?

Procrastinate Much?

OK so....I am most likely the WORST procrastinator seen in EONS!

And the worst part is....I hate it when people who blog (that I read) don't do so often enough!  So perhaps when they don't, I should consider it payback.

I do apologize for my lack of posting and have made a new resolution to blog at a minimum of once a week.  OK not as good as every day, but why set myself up to fail. I am pretty sure once a week is doable, while once a day would be a dream!

Thanks for reading, if you even know I still exist here, and hope you come back again.

Remiss

I have been remiss in my posting here...I celebrated my birthday by getting a case of bronchitis and sinusitis.  ALL while on vacation!

Now I am on some serious medication...the most worrisome is the prednisone which makes me SO hungry!!

Speaking of hungry...ate lunch Monday at Tao Tao...I think it is the world's best Chinese restaurant...well at least in the US ;)

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!

Had SO much fun yesterday at the Easter Egg hunt for my nephews!  I even got a tad sunburned!!  But just enough so that it will turn into a beautiful tan!!  AWESOME!!

Today off to my brother's Aunt and Uncles for a family Easter party...it is SO cool the way they have accepted me...finding family after reuniting can be so good and bad sometimes...this was definitely good!!!

Speaking as an adoptee...I ask that you please sign this petition to support restoring Adult Adoptees the Civil Right to their own original personal Birth Certificates

There are so many fallacies out there that I wish to clarify a few:

Birthmothers were NEVER promised anonymity!  If I had not been adopted, but grew up in foster care, then I would get my original personal Birth Certificate upon reaching the age of majority!  The Birth Certificates are not changed and sealed until the adoption is finalized.  Sadly, I also have NO rights to obtain a copy of the adoption paperwork....a legal matter that was all ABOUT me is something I have no legal right to see.  Does that make any sense??

Wanting access to my original personal Birth Certificate has nothing to do with searching!  I actually already found my birthfamily. Luckily I was accepted whole-heartedly and didn't have any issues.  But even if I hadn't found or hadn't even wanted to search at all, it is my right to have the document of my birth, not an amended copy stating that I was born to my adoptive parents.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my adoptive parents...I call them my parents, and only add 'adoptive' when discussing adoption so as not to confuse people.  Although it can still be confusing!

More Fun

Heading today over to Riverside to visit with friends and go to a movie...might be the same one again, but it was good enough to see again!

No California sun today...all cloudy, but still very nice outside!

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER

OK...I admit it...the weather here in the San Diego area is to DIE for!!  Todays high was 79 with a light breeze....OMG I could SO live here for the rest of my life!  Well...ok the earthquakes are NOT to my liking, but I think I could live with them! lol

Must have worn myself out over the last week, cause I just took a nice long siesta!  But now the nephews are home from school so it is time to PLAY!!

Weather will be a bit colder for the rest of my stay here...but I STILL love the California sun more than anything!!

Fun Times

Well the movie was SPECTACULAR!!  Of course both my nephews were shaking and curled up against their mom saying how scared they were...and afterwards they were talking about how wonderful the movie was!  Gotta love kids!!

Today is a day of rest....sort of.  I mean how much can you rest with a 5-year old and a 3-year old?  They did just settle down for naps, so I will have a few minutes of visiting time with my brother.

Hoping to get over to visit some friends in Riverside this week, hopefully tomorrow even.  Or maybe I will try to hit a beach :)

Can't get enough of this California sun!!

California Baby!!!

I am on a long trip to California from Alabama....and loving every minute of it.  I started out on March 20th and arrived in San Diego on the 22nd...Yep...I drove it...just me and my tunes and we cranked out the miles.  I did stop for a wee bit to sleep, but I love road trips so I got back on the road quickly!

Now I am visiting with my brother and his family...and falling in love with my nephews all over again.  Today we went to the park and after naps we are going to the movies to see How to Train Your Dragon, but not in 3D...3D is WAY too hard to watch when you already wear glasses...why don't they come up with a way for us to watch 3D movies too?

Here until the day after Easter and then heading up to the Modesto area to see my birthfather and lots of friends and family. Wonder if I could just spend my life traveling from family to family to family and not have to pay rent lol

Gonna keep updating this blog daily from now on, so come back soon and see what's new!!

WeirdBear?

Well my good friend AtM, whose blog Cheaper Than Therapy is most entertaining, tagged me almost 10 days ago with a meme (??) to write about 5 things about me that are weird. Unfortunately, I forgot about it (OK so really I got lazy, what's your point?), and since Mom is probably ready to put me on restrictions, I am finally getting to it!

First off, everyone should already know that ShoalBear doesn't like being called weird. She prefers the term Unique! So, just HOW unique am I?

1) I definitely do NOT act my age. It's so bad, that people are always absolutely shocked when they hear how old I am, and some even think I am kidding. Personally, I think it is better to be old and act young, than to be young and act old!

2) I am a geek. Not a total geek, mind, but a geek nonetheless. I have a smartphone, and just got one of those convertible laptops. I drool over tech things, and think that one of those binary clocks or watches would be AWESOME to have! (Come to think of it, I really DO need a new watch...wonder if EBay would have any)

3) I enjoy logic puzzles. NO, I LOVE logic puzzles. I suck at doing them, but I love them, and can waste hours and days on them!

4) Some people would say it is weird that I have always loved country music....but it is true.

5) I have VERY bizarre food rules that must be obeyed. Well...maybe obeyed is too strong a word, but I am very particular. If a food looks "strange" I won't eat it. If the name sounds "weird" I won't eat it. If I ever thought it wouldn't taste good I won't eat it. If I ever ate it and didn't like it I won't eat it. Fortunately, I don't make others suffer....if I don't like what is being served, I am big enough to get off my ass and go get me something I can eat :)

WHEW...this only took me like 5 hours! Well....ok that procrastinating thing combined with a kewl new logic game kinda sorta got in the way. Anyways, I am done!

And Mom already tagged someone else....so I am just gonna drop the ball completely on that. Maybe someday she will explain this whole "meme" thing to me.

If I ever grow up that is....

Remember....what??

I had the perfect idea for my next blog....and now I can't remember it to save my soul!

This is unbearable!

I can't figure out where my wiring is messed up, but it is. I am a moderately intelligent person. I mean, I am going to college and everything. Yet I can't remember the simple things.

On the plus side, my friends don't mind so much. The day after a knock-down drag out fight, I don't remember what we fought about. Hell, I am lucky if I even remember that we fought!

Well, I do have fibromyalgia, and I know that those of us with it do have memory lapses. Heck we even call it Fibro Fog! So, I guess I won't let it worry me too much, but it does tick me off!

"Safe Place"

OK, I know it isn't just me....I have proof it isn't just me. But I can't bear it when I put something in a "Safe Place" so that I can find it easily when I look for it next. Unfortunately, many times when I do need that something, it is not to be found. And so the hunt begins!! My most current search is still going on. I am trying to find a bracelet someone made for me, and I put it in a "Safe Place, in the hopes that when I needed it, I could grab it fast. Especially since I need him to make a few adjustments. It is most gorgeous and something I have wanted for years, and now that I have it, I can't friggin find it!! Boy, you should have heard the growling going on around here today! Sometimes I worry it is early alzheimers setting in. That or I am using up all my remaining brain cells in classes. (Well, some of that stuff IS hard and intimidating!)

Has this happened to you lately? Leave your story in my comments area. Heck, if it hasn't happened to you lately, just tell your most memorable....or tell us both stories!

Well, now that I have growled about it here, I do feel a bit better.

But when, oh when, will I learn to STOP putting things in a "Safe Place"??

Crocs

Crocs

OK I just can't understand this latest fad in shoes. Does no one else realize just how ugly they are?

And yet, I just placed an order for a pair. They are supposed to be comfortable enough to make up for the ugly, but let me be the first (that I know of) to say that within ten years we are going to be wondering what the hell we were thinking.

I understand the bottom of the shoe, that is where the most comfort seems to be if you ask me. But why in the name of all that is sacred must they use the same material for the top side? That is what is most visible when it comes to shoes. Why can't they make them attractive?? And am I the only one who realizes this? I know I can't be, yet everyone seems to have a pair.

Even my best friend Linda has a pair. She is the one who talked me into buying a pair. She claims that they are the most comfortable pair of shoes she ever owned. Now if you can't trust your best friend, who can you trust?

But I still question these shoes being "stylish". Who decides these things? Whoever it is needs a reality slap upside the head!

Now if anyone can explain any this to my little bear mind, I would greatly appreciate it!
